New roads contract to benefit regional industry

  • 12 regional companies share in new plant contract worth nearly $3million
  • Road improvements to deliver safety benefits

Transport Minister Troy Buswell said 12 regional contractors had been included on a panel contract worth $3million to provide road building plant and equipment during the next four months.

“The companies will provide plant and equipment for road improvement works on the Great Southern Highway between Brookton and Cuballing, from now through to April 2013,” Mr Buswell said.

“Creation of this panel is a further demonstration of the Government’s commitment to buying in local services and supporting regional industry.

“The improvement works will provide sealed shoulders and the removal of some roadside hazards on various sections along the 56-kilometre stretch of the highway between Brookton and Cuballing.

“These works form part of the State Government’s regional run-off road crashes program for 2012-13, which is funded by the Road Trauma Trust Account.”

The works will be directly managed by Main Roads WA.
